About Me

I graduated from Illinois Central College Therapeutic Massage Program in December 2006, passed the licensure exam, and got my massage license in early 2007. I began my career working for a wonderful chiropractor, Dr. Kathryn Braun, in Metamora, IL. I added to my skill set with continuing education courses early in my massage journey. The first course I took was Secrets of Deep Tissue with Robert Haase. This was a very informative class with lots of hands-on learning and I still use many of the techniques. A few years later I worked for Mr. Haase as an assistant instructor.

At the end of my first two years of practice, I was hired to teach the muscle anatomy course in the ICC Massage program. I loved teaching muscle anatomy and soon took on other courses as they became available. Some of these included hands-on courses such as deep tissue, sports, chair, and Swedish massage. As an adjunct faculty member at a great community college, I was able to take advantage of teacher development training offered to improve my teaching skills. After several years as an adjunct, I was hired as the program director. I served as the program director from 2012-2015 when I had to move for a family member's health issue, and when I returned to IL I served as program director again from 2019-2020. During my career at ICC, I trained over a hundred massage therapists.

While teaching, I continued my career as a practicing massage therapist. After several years working for Dr. Braun, I created my own company and traveled to clients’ homes to do in-home therapy. The business moved with me to South Caroline for a time, where I also obtained a massage license. Throughout my career, I continue to participate in relevant hands-on continuing education. I became certified in PUSH Muscle Therapy with Michael Takatsuno, I studied Precision NMT with Doug Nelson's organization, Primal Reflex Release Technique with John Iams, and Graston Technique to name a few. Most recently I have been certified as a practitioner and continuing education provider with ACE Massage Cupping Therapy.

I completed a Bachelor of Art's degree at Eastern Illinois University in December 2013.

I am currently practicing in Donalsonville, Georgia. Additionally, I am a NCBTMB Continuing Education provider for ACE Massage Cupping™ and MediCupping™ Therapies. I offer classes locally in Donalsonville and can travel to other locations to teach.

I am a mother of seven beautiful children and the blessed wife of Kris Heins. I love living in the lake, hiking, and riding my recumbent trike with my giant dog.
